colouring media

Post by kimb on Sun 31 Aug 2008 - 21:37

ruth i have just looked in your gallery and left a ?...... but i may as well ask it here so others who may be interested can see it too .

are the promarkers better than the prisma pencils ?
are they a wet media similar to the marvy pens ?
can you blend them ?
are they expensive?
where do you get them from?
not that i can go buy them yet as i have lots of stash recently
its just that they appear to be very strong colours whereas the prismas are more subtle and sometimes you need bolder colours

Aren't the Promarkers a felt pen type thing from Letraset? Very good quality gear.

The pro markers are from letraset - I think they are similar to Copic markers, which are mainly available in the US and are a blendable felt tip pen.

I don't know about Ruth, but I got my Prismas from the US - Dick Blick Art something-or-other - but I got stung for customs as they didn't mark the shipping value on, and UK customs had to gues (and guessed double the value!!!!!!!).

They are similar to copics, and retail for about the same here, 1.65 per pen. I like them for brighter colours as you can layer them, they dry instantly but like copics fade so you freak out a bit when you first colour. Different stamps suit different things, I would rarely use promarkers on a housemouse stamp, they suit prismas better likewise Sarah Kay stamps, I think the key is the more intricate the stamp the more you use pencils

I got my pencils from http://stores.ebay.co.uk/genesisartmaterials he gives a 25 value for what you order hence no duty to be paid. So i think I paid something like $80 however he has put his prices up

You can get a blending pen, but I am not sure yet how to use it
