Embroideries 5

Post by lyndaejane on Sat 10 Jan 2015 - 19:49

This is a Hardanger sampler: Hardanger is a Norwegian technique, where you stitch round the edge of an area and then cut away the threads of the backing fabric from the area.

I'd like to try this, looks super, I especially like the white hard anger work.

That's lovely. I have seen patterns for hardanger but not something I've had a go at.

That is really super Lynda. I like hardanger, although never tried myself.

The first time you do it and you cut the threads away, you're sure the piece is going to fall apart! It's a lovely effect, though, and my biggest Christmas piece - which I'm saving till the end - is in it, too.
