aww SUPER Ruth, that looks utterly fab and you must be over the moon and you have been much better tempered about all the upheaval than I was. Its all worth it now though. I love your rounded ends and the lovely restful lemony cream with those super worktops.

Fantastic kitchen Ruth, bet you don't want to cook in it so it doesn't get dirty.

Looking good, lots of storage to fill! Like the hob placed in the middle of the top, plenty of room for prep etc either side of it.

OMG Ruth its beautiful . bet you are so pleased with it esp. now the end is in sight .
are they granite tops ,they look it . be sure to get a board or heat resist glass slab at side of cooker to take hot pans as it does not stand heat too well ,it gets dicoloured then will blister up . they says its heat resistant but its not in reality. we have it on our boat and some clown has put hot pans on it .
like that old school type light fitting .

Looks gorgeous, Ruth! You're braver than me, having a butler sink: was considering one at the old house, until the family plumber told me the story of when he installed one for a customer. As he returned home after fitting it, he heard the 'phone ring (before mobiles): it was the customer he'd just left and she'd dropped something in the sink and broken it! Put me off for life, as that would be just my luck, too.

Kim's right about the granite: I've got quartz, and it's similar, and I was told not to put hot pans on it. I have a large wooden board next to my hob, oven is the other side of it, so can put everything on there. The reverse applies: have acquired lots of silicon mats and trivets as, if you put nice warm plates on the surface ready to dish up dinner, they soon get cold on the worktop. I actually wouldn't bother with granite/quartz next time as I think there's more cons than pros!

I've always had a butler sink, I call it a Belfast sink, here, the old one is now in the utility room and it is battered but despite me dropping things into it, it's survived, one glass has already smashed in the new one but yes anything heavy may well cause problems. I do have a glass mat although at the moment I use the chopping board or just leave pans on the hob, had to do that with the old worktop too. I'd quite like to get some of those metal pan stands. It isn't granite, it begins with an s but it's cheaper, but it's all the way through like granite so it can have grooves cut out of it by a sink

Too low for me with my back but a lovely size. Loving the pop up socket thingy. It looks fab Ruth, I'd be going round stroking things. Enjoy. Liking the bin on the 'stage', LOL

That's Matthew's bin and I will be so glad when there are doors there to close off his pigsty!!! I do need a new bin though, and door mats and trivets and so on!

Have a look for the silicone trivets, Ruth: they're lightweight and flat and come with a hole to hang them up. I've put some stick-on hooks behind the front of my pan drawer under the hob, iyswim, and hung them there: they take up no room and I can easily whip them out to stand warm plates or hot pots on. Added bonus is that you'll be able to get them in a colour to match your kitchen scheme.
