Art Journal Page

Post by kt_dragonfly on Mon 26 Nov 2012 - 20:20

So here is the page I worked on yesterday, I've drawn the woman a few times trying to work out the best way to incorporate her into the page. In the end played to my strengths and drew her separately then coloured her in with promarkers (though her hair is a bit flat).

With all the yoga I've been doing and changes I've been trying to make this page has been playing on my mind. Sharon (yoga instructor) told me of a 21 meditation challenge which I had a go at and one of the days the thought was "Everything I desire is achievable from within" which I liked.
So my woman is stood in tree pose, grounded down through roots and no she doesn't have a mouth because I couldn't draw one that I liked lol.

Back ground is made up of watercolour crayons, acrylic paints & distress inks, also some masks and stamps thrown in.

Its a page I'm using for inspiration to carry on with my yoga and weightloss.

Kate, I think that's fabulous. It's perfect for what is going on in your life right now. Love your woman and the colours too.

Yes, very personal, Kate, but an expression of how life is for you at the moment. I don't think it matters that her hair looks a bit flat, as you put it: she is a stylised interpretation of the human form, so you wouldn't necessarily expect hair to look perfectly life-like. I like the way she sort of stands apart from her surroundings.
