Wisteria layout and frame

Post by Guest on Mon 3 Oct 2011 - 11:52

Here's a frame I have just done. It was plain old pine wood and I cut up loads of tiny pieces of tissue paper and decopatched it all to match the photo of the wisteria and also to go nicely with my newly decorated little office. Mind you, cutting all those half inch bits of tissue almost made me lose the will to live!! Didn't realise it would take so much - and took me all day!

That's really beautiful, Patty - definitely well worth all that cutting-up!

Patty, that's beautiful. What a lot of work, but so worth it.

That's beautiful Patty - very unique.
I know how much deco pieces it takes to do things - I once cut hundreds of flowers
out of paper and decopaged a Siamese cat and a rabbit. Took ages, but they were
worth it. Still have the rabbit.

Well I think anyone who knows me will be surprised that I had the patience, too Di!!! Not my strong point, I'm afraid. Haven't got time to be patient.

No, I'm not putting my 'to do' list here, that would be far to organised, PLUS I would have to keep it up to date  Laughing

It was worth it Patty.
I don't really understand what decopatch is all about, someone bought me some papers and I thought you used them like tissue paper with Mod podge in a haphazard way, but you've obviously cut these very carefully, enlightenment please .
It is lovely and will grace your office well. You wouldn't get one like that in the shops.

Yes Karelyn - A4 sheets of very fine tissue - I chose three that went together (and with the wallpaper), cut in half-inch pieces, although not regular squares IYKWIM, and then put modge podge (but French equivalent) on the frame, and added each piece individually with more m/p over the top of it as that glues and seals it in one go. Have to smooth each piece down though, or it bubbles a bit. It is exceedingly therapeutic and I recommend it for anyone who wants to drift off into their plans/travels/dreams/hopes etc. because it becomes automatic after a while (or an hour or so!!!!) You do, unfortunately, ruin a good fine paintbrush and also get very mucky fingers (which I hate!!) Would use latex gloves next time.

I'd be ok with the mucky fingers but perhaps not the time it takes, I thought you ripped it as a ragged edge blended better, lucky I haven't actually done anything with mine. Can't actually remember which safe place they're in.

Very pretty Patty and love the colours. Didn't Kate do something with decopatch some time back?
