marias kitchen at long last

Post by Maria on Thu 2 Jun 2011 - 22:59

first a few before ones, so you can see how grim it really was before we started;

Then we stripped the rotten one out and were left with this

Rita and Joe hire a van and go to collect the new kitchen

Then the stone mason work starts on the windows

and now for some lovely finished shots
the big window with the new stonework

the side window, previously this was derelict and opaque

and the actual kitchen finished

I don't get the first three, fifth and sixth or the last - just the dreaded red cross instead - so I can't see what it was like before. But it certainly looks fantastic now! Love the units and the worktop (light-coloured, just how I like it - but that's because us oldies need all the light we can get!) and the tiles really bring a splash of colour. Have fun using it, Maria - you really deserve it.

Her posts on the family chat show (Skype) are so so upbeat and we all had a simply lovely thank you email from her. So good for us all to know that all the hassle has already been forgotten and she is up half the night putting stuff back where it belongs!! I shall see it in the flesh on Wednesday next week!!!

yes Kim, well when I went to make a cuppa I realised the way I had put stuff in it meant opening three separate cupboards plus the cutelry drawer and the fridge, so Im already reshuffling.

I got up at 6 and did a couple of hours and dont really want to work now (but must) and Ive got riding this afternoon and for the first time I wish i wasnt going (but it will do me good) and I just want to get it all back nice now.

Still it will all still be there on Sunday. ive done loads of easy stuff but Ive ended up with all the things like clips for bags, string, calculators, aprons, matches etc all scattered across the lovely worktops for now and time ran out on me. Have got a ready meal out of the freezer (ironic isnt it) so that I can carry right on. Right, work now.

It looks fabulous Maria. That's another kitchen I'd be quite happy to have. I'm so pleased for you and hasn't he done a super job fitting it.

I'm so chuffed for you Maria. It looks fabulous and you will be saying 'wow' for awhile.
Don't worry about reshuffling things around. You'll find which way suits you bestand eventually all will be in its own place.

No, I'm not putting my 'to do' list here, that would be far to organised, PLUS I would have to keep it up to date  Laughing

Thought I'd try again, and this time I got all the pictures. It certainly does put everything into context and I can understand even more now why you are so over the moon!

Not surprised that you're already re-shuffling, either. I'm still not convinced that all my stuff is in the right place, and I've had my kitchen for 18 months! Not that it helped to have had very little living room furniture until February this year, which meant that stuff which should have been in a sideboard was stuffed in the kitchen cupboards.

What a transformation! It's like you didn't have a kitchen as such before, just a place to cook in, hope that's not offensive. What a difference, it's terrific.
I love the photo of you taking a pic of the window, and so nice to see Joe and Rita, I'm sure I've seen them before, with a glass in thier hands perhaps, but this is a great pic, nice to 'meet' the people we hear about.
It's typical that we don't get time to have a leisurely wallow in our nice moments isn't it, grab the chance to stroke it all when you can.
Really enjoyed looking at these pics.
