Shanghai street scenes

Post by Guest on Sun 22 Aug 2010 - 18:13

This is what I have been working on this weekend. Nice to be scrapping again! Note the lady washing the kid's hair in the river ... hardly clean water, but of courses places like this have no other running water.

Lovely LO Patty and I love those flourishes you use.
What's the significance of the bell and what's that in the bottom picture? Very narrow streets aren't they.

No, I'm not putting my 'to do' list here, that would be far to organised, PLUS I would have to keep it up to date  Laughing

Lovely. I like that swirly border and the soft colours with just a splash of red works really well.

That was a prayer bell in a very remote village in Wuyi Shan - I took a flight there to the mountains from Shanghai for a couple of days. It was a simply fascinating place and old as the very hills. The other bottom picture was, believe it or not, pieces of pork ready for eating ... I had some for lunch and it was divine (although it didn't bear thinking about how it was prepared as they had no running water at all!!) Soft, tender pork wrapped in a shiny leaf and then cooked in some sort of sticky sweet stuff ... gorgeous!

No Kim, Kenny and I spent our life eating off street hawkers in every country we visited and I am glad to say we both had the strongest of stomachs ... even India didn't give me any upset and I was eating off the streets there for a month!!

When we lived in Singapore we used to eat from street vendors, we had one man came round the houses regularly and I loved his fish ball soup, never found it anywhere else.

Love the layouts all the swirls etc are great.

I think I'm with you in the food adventure stakes, it's all part of the experience, whichever way it goes!
Love the LO's and that border which one is it? It's a puch I guess? Lovely.

Yes, EK Success Swirl - it's only a short one but my favourite and easy to move along the larger pages with it of course.

The title intrigued me so had to have a look. How lovely and so exciting - Shanghai (Wow!). Really gorgeous. Somehow don't think Pigeon Forge, TN can compare for sheer colour, pattern, mystery and beauty! Unless you're into Golden Arches - not much mystery there! Looking forward to seeing more of Shanghai. Keep 'em coming? Please. Not going to get there anytime soon (if ever) so its up to you! Love the use of colours - unusual and really effective.
