DD's Prom

Post by thriftycrafter on Thu May 27, 2010 9:10 pm

I've had this nearly done for a couple of weeks and just finished it tonight, the journalling is on the tag that's stiking up at the top of the 'frame' and pulls up;
]

Preparations for the Prom
On arrival at High School the first flutters of excitement begin, when you realise there’s a Prom in three years time.
When your brother has his Prom a year before yours, there is great interest in the dresses worn by the girls.
At the beginning of Year 11 people start to get excited, the adventures in frock shops having begun a few years earlier, with gowns tried on and photos taken on mobile phones.
The tiara came as a Christmas gift, and serious dress shopping started as the Prom date was announced in March.
We had a marathon fitting session in TK Maxx but the perfect dress just wasn’t there, a bridal gown caught your eye in Beccles and a few other shops were tried but nothing. Internet browsing took on a new urgency, but finally a dress offered on loan from Sue’s foster daughter Gemma ticked all the boxes; full length, gorgeous colour and fabric, a bit of bling and could have been made for you, even Gemma said it fitted you better than it had her.
You had dreams of weird and wonderful modes of transport including parachuting in! Our ideas were far more practical and down to earth; Tammy stepped in here with a wonderful offer and chauffeured you to the Hotel in her vintage Morris Minor which matched your dress perfectly.
Although you had an offer of a date you preferred to be one of the girls and spent the evening chatting to everyone, eating nothing, having your photo taken and dancing.
The Prom was declared Fantasmagorical!
(Which is good.)

No, I'm not putting my 'to do' list here, that would be far to organised, PLUS I would have to keep it up to date  Laughing

she is gorgeous, just like her mum..i bet you dare not tell her i said she is like you...my kids hear it all the time and dont find it flattering...but your DD should be proud to be like her lovely mum.

The dress is gorgeous, what a great relative to share and be so gracious about it fitting your daughter better x

Yes, we were very lucky, savd me a bomb and DD was so happy with it, much more than the new ones she tried on.
I don't think any kids like to hear they'e like their olds, esp at this age.
It amuses me now when people say I'm like one of mine, although it depends on why they say it lol
