Money tree

Post by thriftycrafter on Sun 25 Oct 2009 - 14:43

This was the class at the Scrapagogo crop I went to yesterday.
The original had 3 small pics in the circle which looked better. Kirsty also put the other 2 metal butterflies from the kit on the page, going up towards the right corner. I would never have used this backing paper for an everyday LO (it's not a j-cloth, it's sparkly), so it's nice to get out of my comfort zone, also very quick when someone else has done all the planning for you. The pp is the reverse of the yellow check or vice versa.
It's DD sitting on a tree trunk studded with coins in Dovedale.

it does look like a jcloth doesn't it ? glad you said cos i know you and recycling !!!

this is a really out of my comfort zone one ,id have to put something in those empty corners . i like it though ,but not one for my album ,it would drive me crazy ,i dont think it would last long without me having to add something . that said ,its great for peeps who like that sort of thing and can live with empty spaces

i love the idea of a money tree ,ive never heard of that and my youngest goes to dovedale often

Another here who would just have to put something in that space lol.
I like the papers you have used.
What's the story behind the money tree?

Fraid I have to agree with Kim - it can never be said that I am a minimalistic
crafter. Sometimes I don't know when to stop.

Love the colours you've used!

You just have to notice where your eye goes when you first glance at the LO, if it goes to the picture (or the journalling if that's more important) then job done. If I put something else in the corner then it would take the eye away.
Know what you mean though, I do like white space but rarely use it like I could. This was a class though and it's even more minimal that the original LOL
Thanks for the nice comments, wondering now if j-cloths are acid free LOL I don't use them or I might be tempted, an idea for those ATC's perhaps.

Re the tree, not sure how long it's been going on but wherever a tree has been felled along the path, people have been hammering money into the trunk or the stump, many of the coins are foreign, and of course the kids all try to get them out. I've seen it done in beams in pubs before, and in Germany in trees maybe it's just a walkers thing. The stumps are left there as there is no road for ages so moving them is impossible, so it's a good way to turn them into a feature.

It's drawn on Kim, I do like to use real stitching too, but didn't take my machine to the crop. It just takes the plainness sp? off I think.

I love this LO Karelyn. I like minimal Lo's but never seem to do them , now theres a challenge next time I go to the crop.
Like you said my eye was drawn straight to the photo so need for anything else.

Karelyn - it wasn't a criticism about the space left. I sometimes wish that I
could do something like that and admire those that do leave the space. We are all different and
I love to see how others work.

I know what you mean about where the eye goes to and you are right about that.

Oh I know that Steph, you're too polite to criticise, like you say we're all different, my own LO's often differ anyway, just wish I could take all the credit for the design, but I can't.
I think that's why I like to do a class sometimes, to get out of my comfort zone.
