Hints and Tips

Post by karinlouise on Sun 7 Sep 2008 - 20:15

I've found a new use for an old magazine. I've started to cull them and go through for ideas and keep them, but to throw away (recycle) the bits I don't need.

Anyway, I was playing with some chalk pads and picked up one of the half mags I had put in the recylce box and realised I could use it page by page for stuff. So my hint.......

Keep an old magazine for the times when you need to rest on something for gluing, inking, stamping, and then you just tear out the used page and keep it for the next time.

I quite often end up looking round for a piece of paper for something. Very Happy

I always use old newspapers for when I use the spray glue.

i use them for that too - good for pouring out embossing powder over or when you want to stamp over the edge of the paper

Well, it's something I never thought of Karin. I use my white printer paper and waste loads of it.

Every week, I throw away a TV mag, so could use that. Mr Green
Cheers, hun.

Oh Lorraine, thank goodness it helped someone. I too use loads of printer paper.

Billie, I am only culling mags that are over 6 months old. I have gone through them page by page, torn out ideas for cards of LOs, photographing, pc stuff, websites and verses and then the rest which is nearly all newbie stuff and adverts is what goes in the box.

for the embossing powder its better if its not glossy, as you get less static. ha, listen to me, an expert on embossing now - ive been doing it for all of a couple of months!

also if you are gluing you can afford to use a whole sheet per item as it was rubbish anyway, so you dont get glue on stuff. I keep these dead bits of mags in a pile near the table so they are always to hand - mind you, Lorraines work is still eons neater than mine so perhaps i should change to printer paper Very Happy

when embossing maria , do you use one of those little magic bags to wipe the card with before stamping and embossing , it stops all static

I use tumble dryer sheets if I need to. Saw it in a mag once and I got some free samples, so cut them all up into small squares and then forgot I had them for a while.
Duuuhhhh!!!!!!

Although I'd love a magic bag, I've never seen them for sale so will stick to my drier sheets.

I use an old puff thingy from a loose powder box and talc. Swipe it on the card, and wipe it over when I've heated. Mr Green
