My little haven today

Post by Guest on Fri 22 May 2009 - 18:34

Do hope you don't think this is overkill, but it's a bit like having a grandchild and showing him/her off!!!

Oh wow, could I have done with these pics for your little maze book, I had to scrounge pics from LO's and the quality was pretty poor, these are gorgeous.
Not overkill at all, if people don't like gardens they won't look. I for one am enjoying other people's havens in the absence of time in one of my own, by the time I have 5 mins it's dark.
So it's lovely and generous of you all to share yours. I suppose I could spend less time on the pc, but where's the fun in that LOL

I love the irises and is that a lilac or a syryngia (no idea)thingy?

Oh Patty your garden is beautiful no wonder you are so proud of it.
I don't like gardening but can appreciate other peoples and the hard work that must go into to keep it looking so good.

Very pretty selection there Patty, and I love that white Iris - I want one!! My favourite flower.

The pics I put on were of my front garden (apart from the cat by the pond) as we have two large areas of garden, the back mainly vegs but have few lovely plants around the patio and pond.

The purple thingy is a Solanum called "Glasnevin". Sorry about the run of the pics all together then, it was just the way they came out from my photobucket pics!!

Cath, my garden is tiny - only 20ft by 40ft but crammed to the gunwales and not a space in sight. No lawn, as you can see, just space to walk on the granite chips and flowers everywhere else.

Choysia has flowered and gone - beautifully fragrant as you say but as soon as the flowers have finished I lop them off to make the bush bushier and get a second flower.

Thank you all for your generous comments about my own special space. I love it to bits. I've always wanted a bigget plot but as things stand now, it is just as well I haven't!!

WOW Patty this is indeed a tiny piece of heaven on earth, no wonder you are so chuffed to bits with it. Glad you have shown us it. I have to say my plot is to big for me to manage and can get into quite a mess from time to time.

no Kim, mock orange blossom is philadelphus... (real orange blossom is called syringa(sp)). Choisya is a different thing - full name is
choisya ternata 'sundance' well, sundance is the yellow leaved more popular one, and the flowers smell sort of savoury rather than sweet.
