I found out by accident this weekend that if you use one of those little tiny fine mister spray thingies and add some water, plus just a drop of alcohol ink to it and give it a good shake, you can use it as a sort of "glimmer mist" at no cost at all if you already have the inks.

I know there's mixed views on this (I don't regularly use actual motifs from used cards, except on my charity ones) but I thought it would be worth re-iterating the tips I put on the forum once before - no doubt lost in one of the various reincarnations!

Cards with inserts - if the unwritten-on side of the insert is plain, cut it out as it may be big enough to form an insert for a smaller card. If there's not too much printing on the back of the card, use the back as a new card blank and ...

I'm off to a craft fair at the weekend and will have some cards to
sell. I have no idea how to price them. They are in different styles.

Some have stickers on patterned card, some have dacoupage (some is
dufex), some have toppers on background paper and some of the cards are
foiled and/or embossed.

I'm also going to be selling framed photos and no idea how to price those at all.

Anyone got any ideas?

USING LEFTOVERS FROM A SHEET OF LABELS

THANKS TO LYNDA FOR THIS TIP.

You know when you print off a sheet of labels you get a strip left at the top and bottom of the sheet? Not wide enough for anything much, but seems too good to throw away?

I've realised I can use pieces of the strips to put over things that are wrapped round from/poke through the front of cards, eg ribbon, thread, brad backs. Much easier than having to glue on a piece of paper or card. And you can colour it to match the card blank if you wish.

TIPS FOR USING BOWS, RIBBON SCRAPS ETC...

THANKS TO LYNDA FOR THIS TIP

Have just gone through the annual ceremony of The Stashing Away of the Bows and Ribbons from Gift Boxes and had a few thoughts (plus a repeat of one that was on the old forum) about ribbons and bows in general.

1. If you tie a knotted bow (single or double knot with two tails, as opposed to a full bow with two loops and two bows) and find it never lays properly across your card or layout, try this. Fix a length of ribbon across the card/LO, then cut ...

RUNNING OUT OF CARD BLANKS?

THANKS TO LYNDA FOR THIS TIP.

If you need more card blanks for your Chrissie cards, check that box of leftover bought cards that is still kicking round. They're usually weedy, or have a naff greeting inside or an even naffer picture on the front.

Provided you are covering the whole of the front with card, paper etc, you can use the unused shop-bought card as a blank. It even has the greeting inside! But if you don't like the greeting or are using the card in a different orientation, ...

THANKS TO LYNDA FOR THIS TIP.

This is for when you want to have a ribbon coming from top to bottom or side to side over your cardstock with a bow or knot in it. It's much less wasteful than cutting a length of ribbon and making your bow or knot, then cutting off all the excess.

Get hold of each end of the piece of ribbon and tie your bow or knot (if you're tying a bow, you may need to pin the ribbon down while you tie it). Place the bow/knot against the cardstock, in the position you ...

Sometimes card will fold looking cracked or ragged looking, especially if you are folding against the grain. Avoid this by scoring on the other side first, folding, and then turning over and folding it again on the right side.
