I mentioned that I made myself a bracelet on holiday with some of my turquoise and ivory beads and silver wire; well I finally got it photographed today, along with some new bead sets. But.....having spent all afternoon editing and stuff, I need to go and tidy the kitchen and make some tea!!! So, just this once, I'm not going to edit it again and put in in Photobucket.....but it is on the Gallery page of my shop if you want to take a look

the course is all about manipulating wires, ie copper was the one we were doing monday. we had to heat it up, then cool it down wrap it round a wooden peg, the saw it and we had made our copper jump rings.and then doing some souldering, but not with a souldering iron with the burner.

Elastic help please!

I wanted to make a stretchy chain bracelet last night, with elastic threaded through some chain, with beads placed partway through. I was really happy with my design, but not the materials! I used 'stretch magic', with a view to tying a surgeons knot, then securing with a dot of glue.

Well, no sooner had I tied the knot, that it started undoing itself! No chance of the glue sticking it (jewellery cement stuff) before it had unravelled,.

Any advice please? Change the knot, or use another ...

Here is my first attempt at jewellery; some basic beading that I did in a local workshop last night. Quite pleased with the result; let's hope DD1 is as happy when she gets it for her birthday in a few weeks!

Am totally hooked now...

I know you lot have some great suppliers of all the bits to make jewellery. I am looking for some turquoise beads and some pearls to make Mum's Christmas pressie.

A list of who people use and recommend would be a great idea as then we can share the best things.

So far the best turquoise prices I have found are from www.jillybeads.co.uk and the best pearls from Firemountain.

i was wondering if someone would advise me on wires.

ive made a necklace (which i'll put in the gallery), ive spaced the crystals out, ive used tiger tail. so some of the tiger tail thread is showing through out the necklace. im thinking of doing something else with the wire showing.

im confused aobut wires. is it ok to use tiger tail like that, or would i be better using something else, if im thinking of having wire showing?.
