It was fine, was there for a couple of hours, catching up, and drinking tea.
Re: Diary of an Insane Housewife
Good to know you've broken the ice, so to speak, Ruth.

Re: Diary of an Insane Housewife
Oh Ruth I didn't know you were still having probs with coil. Definately go back about it. I have had no probs at all recently but a friend at work can feel hers, and has had a few probs, so do go back. I as sterilised when William was small and did have problems with that afterwards. You do get heavier periods so think carefully about it.

Re: Diary of an Insane Housewife
Drat don't want heavier periods, the GP did suggest depo injections or the implant so will have a good chat with them first about the pros and cons of all of them.
Re: Diary of an Insane Housewife
Going to own up to something now here. The charity, nope I haven't gone back, I have had ample opportunity believe me to go back in and become involved and my intention remains the same. However Marsha rang me the other day to ask if I would go to a course in London with her and act as her scribe and make sure she understands what is going on as like many dyslexics she finds it hard to follow things. She needs someone with her who she can trust and someone who understands the nature of her difficulties, her daughter can't go as someone needs to man the shop as it were. I thought about it for a couple of days and decided that I would go, it's all free to me and there is time to do other things (I want to go on the London Eye). I still care for the cause and if my support means they can attract funding then it's not a hassle for me. It's in January so it'll be something to look forward to after Christmas. I talked it through with my mum as she has been helpful with all that has gone on like you lot here have and on balance she thinks it's OK for me to go. I have become a lot stronger over the past few months with all that has happened plus despite all that has happened Marsha has been helpful where Sam is concerned, she knows the system, she knows the people in the system
Re: Diary of an Insane Housewife
Think you are right to do it Ruth, if you are both comfortable with things as they are and can still help each other out that's a good way to go. Nice to think you can still be friends after all the agro.

Re: Diary of an Insane Housewife
quite, as Di says.
and also a nice freebie trip away somewhere is not to be sniffed at, especially if it is for a good cause and as its a one-off you arent being led into anything. I should take it as a compliment that despite it all, its you she wants. Bravo.

Sounds like this is still keeping things at arm's length, Ruth, as you won't actually be going into the office. The freebie trip will be good, too!

Re: Diary of an Insane Housewife
Went to Rob's parent's evening tonight, was almost in tears when I left, every last teacher said what a lovely lad he was, how much they loved having him in the class, how much they enjoyed debating with him and what a wide range of knowledge he had. Only criticism was the usual one in that they wished he would convert the knowledge to paper. The English teacher said he was working out what Shakespeare book to study at GCSE so he could keep Rob interested (told him not to do Romeo and Juliet because I have suffered enough with the other two) so he's thinking Macbeth and instead of writing he would try and make Rob's coursework more on the spoken word/ discussion line which is also markable at GCSE. He was praised for being polite, always putting his hand up. I swear the child I put in the taxi each morning is not the same one that goes to school, his history teacher told me I had done a wonderful job with him. He obviously has problems in certain areas but all the teachers seem happy to work with that and adapt if at all possible. He's in Y9 and I have always had good parent's evenings but this one was by far and away the best but after years of poor reports at primary school when he was there it is still a weird sensation and I can't stop grinning. I am so proud of him, of course he doesn't like me saying that but and telling him to be proud of himself just gets me a severe look and frown!

Re: Diary of an Insane Housewife
awww that's great Ruth, you are right to be proud.
Given the difficulties he must face with some aspects of school work he is doing so well.
lol about PE teacher, you shouldn't be noticing such things!!

Re: Diary of an Insane Housewife
I just wish I could drag the cow of a headteacher at his last school and show her teachers who positively welcome the challenge of teaching a child with aspergers. Her prediction was pretty much that he'd have been permanently excluded by now, good job thast my natural response to any criticism like that is 'I'll show you' rather than paying attention to comments like that

MacB is my fave Shakespeare, closely followed by Hamlet. They'd be great for him.

Well Done Rob, and WELL DONE Ruth, just shows you know your own child. I'd be very tempted to copy his next report and post it to the previous school, With a couple of bells in with it.

Re: Diary of an Insane Housewife
Great open evening, made me feel 'normal', and everything at home has been adapted to suit Rob and Sam's needs, yet two days later I am on the verge of tears. I read in Rob's planner 'Yuya left today to go back to Japan', Yuya is another aspie in Rob's class and since he joined the school in March '07 they have been stuck together like glue, yet Rob has known that he is leaving, never said a thing and doesn't understand why I feel the need to give him a hug, and was certainly completely mystified by the question 'Will you miss him?'.His reply was 'Why?' and by the way in which he said it I could tell the thought had never occurred to him. He just said he was lucky as it meant he wouldn't have to do his history homework this weekend and no more social skills lessons! We will probably get fall out which Rob won't be able to interpret as him missing Yuya but just more proof that I should never try to kid myself life is normal
Re: Diary of an Insane Housewife
Ruth, Im sure alot of boys (and maybe girls too) find it difficult and awkward to share their hopes and fears and sensitive feelings with their parents.... dont be too hard on yourself.
